Atlanta House- Finished Product!

Here are the exterior pictures of the Atlanta House as a finished product! This house has two program items which lend themselves to the purer architectural form: the Owner's Suite is on the upper level (which helps to make the square footage similar from main level to upper level) and the Garage is detached (which takes a bulky program item and separates it from the house, giving it a 'carriage house' feel). All too often, the Owner's Suite is required on the main level, and the huge bulk of a garage is required to be attached, often to one side, giving a traditional house 'wings' that tend to overwhelm the massing and proportions. Add the often required "Bonus Room" above the garage, and you have an even bigger, bulkier mass to try to incorporate into the whole- often creating a proportional mess.

Thankfully, we didn't have to deal with those typical program items with this house, and I believe that allowed us to come closer to the look of the historical precedents for this home. Thank you to a great client, and a skilled contractor- Matthew Morris of the M. T. Morris Construction Company!
