The Bloch Building at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City

The Bloch building, the Steven Holl addition to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Missouri, is one of my favorite buildings of the last few years. Here are a few pictures, but like any great building, the photos don't do it justice. You really need to see it. There's actually a pretty good collection of art there as well, including a fantastic Rauschenberg and an amazing Nevelson, so block out a full day. You'll want to visit the "old" museum to see the Thomas Hart Benton collection as well. Even the parking garage is worth the visit!

Chihuly Nights- Part Deux

This was my second visit to Cheekwood for the Chihuly Exhibit. It's impossible not to attempt to catch the exuberance of the installation in photographs. I know Chihuly has his detractors, but you have to give him credit for being populist and appealing to a pretty wide ranging audience. The people watching is at least half the fun. There are so many photos of this exhibit on Facebook and in blogs, that taking unique shots is a challenge- but here are some of my attempts!
